We are happy to announce that the second issue of Shilin: Leiden University Journal of Young Sinology is coming out in a couple of weeks! In the new issue, Chenyu Cheng employs Freudian-Lacanian theories of psychoanalysis to gain a better understanding of who Qiu Jin really was. In the second piece, Tom van der Meer traces the roots of the internet phenomenon known as the “human flesh search engine”, while Suzanne Burdorf goes back to times past and closely examines a Daoist poem. Lai Mei Tang discusses a Song dynasty embassy to the Uighurs, and finally Eveline Kamstra shows how the Cultural Revolution affected a generation of Chinese. We do hope you enjoy reading the articles!
