Young talent at the Rombouts-Shilin Graduate Conference

Shilin aims to provide an accessible platform to young and aspiring scholars to present their work and ideas. The Rombouts-Shilin Graduate Conference, held on 2 and 3 September, was an inspiring event that brought together scholars from Leiden and beyond to discuss new ideas within the theme of ‘image’, covering topics such as the idea of ‘self’ in the Zhuangzi to the development today’s music industry in China. The Shilin team looks forward to receiving all the presenters’ papers, which will be published in 2016 (the book of abstracts is available here). We would like to thank all the presenters, participants, assistants, and sponsors for making the Rombouts-Shilin conference such a success. We would also like to congratulate Hugo Kolstee for winning the first Shilin Young Scholar Prize for the best BA thesis of Leiden’s Chinese Studies department.

We hope to see you at the next edition!
