Shilin: Leiden University Journal for Young Sinology (‘the forest of scholars’) was founded in 2010 by students of Leiden University’s Chinese Studies department. The foundation aims to provide excellent students a platform to shine, through involving them in scholarly activities and bringing together both these young academics and established scholars of Chinese Studies. Through our journal, seminars, conferences, books, and other activities Shilin contributes to debates and discussions within the student body and the field of Chinese Studies at large. Shilin is and has been a stepping stone for young scholars with the ambitions to pursue an academic career or other China-related career paths.
